When You Do Not Need a Production Company
We would rather tell you now than take money for something you did not need. Here are the situations where hiring us is the wrong call.
The audience is small and internal
Twenty people on a team call. A conferencing platform does this properly and a production adds nothing. Fix the microphone in the room and you have solved the actual problem.
You stream every week
A church streaming a Sunday service, a council streaming monthly meetings, a venue streaming regularly. A permanent installed system pays for itself against crewed production within a year or two, and your own people learn to run it.
We would rather help you specify that once than invoice you fifty times.
Nobody is watching live
If the audience is really watching afterwards, you do not need a live production. You need a decent recording and a good edit, and that is a cheaper and better-controlled job.
There is no budget for audio
A production budget that stretches to cameras but not to proper audio produces a worse result than a single camera with a good microphone. Spend on sound first. If the budget only covers one of the two, cameras are the thing to drop.
The event is genuinely simple and short
One speaker, thirty minutes, a modest audience. A phone on a tripod with a lapel microphone is honest and fine. Nobody expects a broadcast from a village AGM and producing one looks odd rather than impressive.
You have capable people in house
Plenty of organisations have someone who can run a stream well. If you have them, use them, and bring in a crew for the two events a year that genuinely need it.
When it is worth calling us
Paid audiences. One-shot events that cannot be repeated. Anything with an audience over a few hundred. Anything external facing where the impression matters. Sites with no infrastructure. Anything where nobody available can run it and also take part.
More on pricing.
